Bridge Jacking

The project documents required the replacement of the existing bearing pads. Two types of bridge jacking were utilized for this project. The first type was completed from the ground using steel pipe columns and hydraulic jacks. The second type utilized hollow core rams, high strength threaded bar, and a heavy duty steel jacking frame to lift the entire precast concrete bridge span up off the bearing pads while not interrupting the railroad traffic below.
